Mr Ben Dowdle
Hand, Wrist and Upper Limb Surgery
Mr Ben Dowdle is an Australian trained orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in upper extremity reconstruction. He manages the full spectrum of upper limb conditions, including hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder problems.
Ben graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2010 with first class honours. After completing internship and residency at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, he commenced orthopaedic surgery training in 2016. He attained his Fellowship with Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2020.
Ben has completed a further two years of subspecialty training in upper extremity reconstructive surgery. This included post-fellowship education and training (PFET) in hand, wrist and microsurgery with the Australian Hand Surgery Society. This training was under supervision of Professor Randy Bindra and Professor Mark Ross, two of Australia’s leading hand and wrist surgeons. Ben is one of the few surgeons in Victoria that hold the highly regarded PFET (Hand) qualification.

Ben has particular interest in advanced arthroscopic (key-hole) techniques, joint replacement surgery and upper limb trauma and treats the following conditions:

He has public hospital appointments at the Alfred, Sandringham and Frankston hospitals, where he helps to train the next generation of surgeons. He works privately at Linacre Hospital and Peninsula Private Hospital.
